Mormon Muffins are perfectly soft and fluffy. No boring bran muffins here! Serve them with honey butter and you're all set. Oh these are just from Heaven. You must eat them warm with honey butter. You must. They come from one of my favorite restaurants, The Greenery. That's where my favorite sandwich Fowl Play comes from, as well. Mormons settled in Utah way back in the day (1847) and that's where the name comes from. These are not your boring bran muffins. These are incredible and you … [Read more...]
Fruity Danish {Totally Tasty Tuesdays}
I shared these yummy little treats last week over at Mangoes and Chutney, but in case you didn't wander over there, I'm posting it here for the rest of you. These take no time at all, well, except to bake them, but even then, it's quick. Unless you stand there at the oven, waiting for them to get done baking because you can't stand the wait. Then, ok, maybe they take a while. You will gobble these right up. 2 tubes of refrigerated breadsticks1/3 c. melted butter1 Tbsp. sugar1 c. pie filling of … [Read more...]
Cinnamon Swirl Quick Bread
Cinnamon Swirl Quick Bread tastes a lot like Amish Friendship Bread. I love this because it tastes so great but without all the work of the Amish Bread. We ate this loaf up in a few hours. That's saying something in this house. And it wasn't even all me that ate it! It's so addicting. Popovers
Ever since seeing Popovers on an episode of $40 a Day with Rachael Ray (which I think Food Network needs to start filming again!) I have wanted to taste them. They just look so good. And they are. I finally made some and I wasn't disappointed. You can eat them so many different ways. I shared some with my neighbor across the street and she asked me how to eat them. She'd never had them either. You can serve them with butter and jam, flavored butters (just whip together butter and jam or flavored … [Read more...]
Egg Nog Bread
This Eggnog Bread is incredibly moist and incredibly addicting. Beware if you make this-you're gonna have to hide it from yourself or make mini loaves and just keep one out and freeze the rest. Very true story. I saw this on my pal Tina's blog Mommy's Kitchen and knew I had to try it. This is one of those recipes that grabs my attention. A-because I love bread; B-because my whole family loves Egg Nog; and C- I don't like Egg Nog, but love stuff made with it such as the Egg Nog shake at … [Read more...]
Dessert Pizza
I really love dessert pizza. I went to eat at a resteraunt and they had it there. So I decided to make it myself. Not much to it. I used store bought pizza dough, however, next time I will use homemade dough. It will taste so much better. Here is a recipe for the dough. Just make it into a round pizza shape instead of the breadsticks.Dessert Pizza1 crust for pizza1 can pie filling of your choicevanilla frosting (I used store bought and nuked it a little to make it easy to drizzle)Prepare … [Read more...]
Onion Bread
My mother-in-law first made this bread and oh.my.goodness. It is incredible. It is sooo soft from the cottage cheese that is in it and the combonation of the onion and dill makes for one awesome loaf of bread. However you eat it, it is so tasty.Onion Bread1 pkg. yeast (about 1 Tbsp.)1/4 c. warm water (about 120 degrees)1 c. lukewarm cottage cheese (just heat it on the stove til warm)2 Tbsp. … [Read more...]

Honey Wheat Bread
I have a neighbor (well, lots of neighbors) who makes her own bread everyday. She doesn't buy it at the store. If they are out of bread, she hurries and makes some, instead of running to the store (which is 30 miles away from us anyway so you kinda have to be stocked up on food and such just for living, let alone for disasters). I think she rocks. She plants a massive garden each year and cans all her own veggies. She doesn't buy any canned veggies for her family. She has it all from her garden. … [Read more...]
Sticky Buns
Sticky Buns are the best way to say "I love my family!" They are easy to prepare. Make them at night and by morning, they are ready to bake! I am sure these are also known as "Monkey Bread" but Sticky Buns is just funner to say. Plus it is what they are called. In my family anyway. My mom always made these for us for breakfast. Which I must say is a labor of love since these need to raise a few hours (or more depending on how warm you kitchen is). She would get up around 3 or 4 am to … [Read more...]
