Potato harvest is in full swing.I drove the big truck Saturday for about 5 hours and then we were done for the day. It was just a test run to make sure everything was working right. Starting on Monday, we go from 8 am to anywhere from 10 pm to midnight. Oh.so.excited.It's pretty cool to see the whole process from driving along side the harvester machine and getting loaded up in my truck to unloading into the equipment which sends it through into the cellars. I will take pics next week and … [Read more...]

Chinese Spicy Chicken
Chinese Spicy Chicken is often referred to as Tiny Spicy Chicken because it's in tiny pieces. Probably because it's so spicy that you need small bites at a time! Remember how I told you that Chinese food is my favorite? Well, I did and shame on you for forgetting this very important fact about me. I made Sweet and Sour Chicken a while ago and it's one of my favorite meals that I make. My husband isn't one for sweet dinners. Like Sweet and Sour Chicken. Or those Swedish Meatballs. Or … [Read more...]

Salisbury Steak
Salisbury Steak is basically a fancy way of saying hamburger with yummy sauce. It's an easy dish to prepare and great for busy weeknights. I like to cook up hamburger patties and saute some mushrooms and onions and eat it all dipped in A-1 Steak Sauce or Heinz 57 . Quick and simple. I usually make it for lunch for Miss Emma and myself and Lance when he's home. Emma always makes sure to grab some mushrooms and onions when we are in the grocery store. She loves them! So I found a great recipe … [Read more...]
Sweet and Sour Chicken
My friends, let me tell you something: I love Chinese food. It's my favorite food. Ever. So with that said, I can now live in the middle of nowhere absolutely comfortably. Because I can make Sweet and Sour Chicken in my own kitchen. Anytime I want. And this version tastes just like it was made in a Chinese restaurant. Also, I love a girl named Holly for putting this recipe on her blog for me. I know it was just for me. Sweet and Sour Chicken Print Author: … [Read more...]

Totally Tasty Tuesdays
We finally have snow! I don't totally mind that its after Christmas, just that we have it. Otherwise there's gonna be a world of hurt come spring for that stuff we buy that comes from farms...what's the word...FOOD. Not everyone can water their crops (rules and stuff or no irrigation options) so that means less food that can grow. True story. So no complaining out there about the snow. Just stay home or drive super safe even if it means leaving earlier than usual so you don't have to cuss on the … [Read more...]

We are surprising our kids (9, 7, and 3) with a trip to Disneyland, Universal Studios, Sea World, and the San Diego Zoo. They don't know about it. Guest Blogger: Fantastical Sharing of Recipes
Most of you know that I'm getting new kitchen cabinets and counter tops (eeeee!). That means my kitchen is a dysfunctional mess. That also means I won't be doing much cooking. My poor family will be stuck with Schwan's food and whatever else I can figure out that won't require much prep work. I will be using my slow cooker if it's a dump-it-in kinda recipe. So I will be having some guest bloggers to help me out. Like today. Take it away, Sarah!Hi everyone! I'm Sarah … [Read more...]
