Perfect Boiled Eggs

April 6, 2010 by mandyrecipebox

I know this is late for Easter, but people still make boiled eggs other times of the year, right? Egg salad sandwiches are a favorite of mine. Take some boiled eggs, mix with mayo or salad dressing, maybe some mustard and relish if you want and spread on a piece of bread. I like to make it and toast it like a grilled cheese sandwich. So good! So here’s the way to make perfect boiled eggs. Nice and yellow. Not the yucky green color (which is the protein being burned from overcooking them. Gross, right?).

Put eggs in a saucepan and cover with cold water. Make sure they are covered at least an inch by the water. Turn the stove on and bring to a boil. Cover with a lid and remove from the heat. Let them sit for 15 minutes. Immediately rinse in cold water. There you go. See how nice and yellow the yolk is?

Beautiful eggs! Thanks for the tip, too. And yes, I think it's okay to enjoy them year round!

Thank you. I have been trying to remember what my mother taught me years ago. This is it.

Mandy, your boiled eggs look good! Whenever I boil eggs, I only let them sit for 10 minutes. Anymore than that, the eggs always turn green in color around the edges. I always use large eggs, do you use extra large or jumbo size eggs?

Also Mandy, I wanted to let you know, in case you haven't seen it, that I have given you the Lovely Blog Award, as I enjoy reading your blog and
