Butter

Butter

I made butter. Yep. I did. I can't believe that there was so little involved. All you need is cream and salt and a way to turn the cream to butter. I used my Kitchen Aid mixer, but you can use a jar, a hand mixer, or a butter churn. If you have one. Check this out and go do it. So easy. I Can't believe it was that easy. Butter1 c. Heavy Whipping Creampinch of saltMixer or jar with a lidPut the cream in a bowl, your mixer bowl, or a jar and put the lid on. Mix like you are going to make whipped … [Read more...]

Honey Wheat Bread

Honey Wheat Bread

I have a neighbor (well, lots of neighbors) who makes her own bread everyday. She doesn't buy it at the store. If they are out of bread, she hurries and makes some, instead of running to the store (which is 30 miles away from us anyway so you kinda have to be stocked up on food and such just for living, let alone for disasters). I think she rocks. She plants a massive garden each year and cans all her own veggies. She doesn't buy any canned veggies for her family. She has it all from her garden. … [Read more...]

Cheesy BBQ Chicken and Rice

Cheesy BBQ Chicken and Rice

These come from Kraft Foods. I liked them but I think next time will use pinto beans instead of the black beans. It's just my preference, but you can make them just the way I did. I bet you're thinking, "BBQ Rice?" It's really pretty good. Give it a try...BBQ Chicken and Rice1 lb. boneless skinless chicken breast, cut into strips 2 cups instant white rice, uncooked 1 cups Barbecue Sauce 1-1/2 cups water 1 cup canned black beans or pinto beans, drained 1-1/2 … [Read more...]

Strawberry Freezer Jam

Strawberry Freezer Jam

Homemade jam is the only jam I can eat. Because once I tasted it, there was no turning back to store bought jam. Ever. Especially when this is so easy to make. Strawberries were on sale for $6 a flat. A flat! So I bought some and made strawberry pancakes, strawberry julius, and strawberry shortcake. And this jam. Three ingredients are all you need for the homemade goodness that is this jam. Anyone can make it. So what are you waiting for? Strawberry Freezer … [Read more...]

Strawberry Pancakes

Strawberry Pancakes

Spring is here and that means Strawberries! I do love them. Very much. I make jam and a yummy drink and strawberry shortcake. But this year, I wanted more than that. So I went on a mission of searching All Recipes for recipes using fresh strawberries. I found this pancake recipe and made it for dinner that night. Yes, dinner. I couldn't wait until morning to make it for breakfast. I know, it's what I do. These were so de-freaking-licious that I made them again two days later for breakfast. I … [Read more...]

Chicken and Broccoli Casserole

April 12, 2010 by mandyrecipebox

Chicken and Broccoli Casserole

Broccoli is my favorite vegetable, I believe. Right there with fresh corn on the cob. My mother-in-law made this dish for a church dinner and I went home and looked up the recipe on Kraft Food's website. I made it for dinner the next night since my family wasn't at the dinner to taste it. So good... And I got to use my new Le Creuset baking dish I received from CSN Stores. I love it! It is my new favorite thing! It is stoneware and so easy to clean. It can go in the dishwasher, too. Love it and … [Read more...]

Perfect Boiled Eggs

April 6, 2010 by mandyrecipebox

Perfect Boiled Eggs

I know this is late for Easter, but people still make boiled eggs other times of the year, right? Egg salad sandwiches are a favorite of mine. Take some boiled eggs, mix with mayo or salad dressing, maybe some mustard and relish if you want and spread on a piece of bread. I like to make it and toast it like a grilled cheese sandwich. So good! So here's the way to make perfect boiled eggs. Nice and yellow. Not the yucky green color (which is the protein being burned from overcooking them. Gross, … [Read more...]
