It’s so hard to find that happy medium in life these days between work, family and me time. I am sharing ways that work for me. Hopefully you’ll get some ideas, too!
I never thought I would grow up to be a full time food blogger, earning an income from doing something that I love. I didn’t even know what a blog was until a few months before I started blogging in 2009. I also didn’t know that once I started my blog that I would be in a crazy world of deadlines, cooking, baking, meeting new friends, photographing food and a whole lot more. All of which I love! I always wanted to be a stay at home mom and my wish was granted almost 13 years ago when I had my first child. I never worked again aside from the potato harvest once a year here and there for a few weeks each season.
Then my blog became a business and my stay at home mom life changed. How in the world am I supposed to balance life as a blogger and life as a wife and mom?
Well I have found some tips that I am going to share. They are what I have found works for me. These are ways to keep balance in any life. Whether you are a full time employee outside the home, a student or anything else. Aside from the first one, they are in no certain order.

Remember your #1 priority
I am a wife and mom first and forever. If that ever gets threatened by too much work or anything, I won’t do it. They are my number one priority. Think about what your number one priority is and always keep it first. Too much studying or working or whatever can be bad if your #1 priority gets overshadowed. Even if you have the best intentions in mind (all this studying/working/whatever will pay off soon!), it’s not worth it if your priority gets pushed aside. My religion is also #1. They go hand in hand for me so consider it a tie.

Take time for yourself
This is so important. What kind of success will you have at anything if you get burned out? Not much. I always take time for myself to stay refreshed and happy. Every day we have Quiet Time at our house. It’s when my little one takes a nap. I have everyone go somewhere other than the living room while he naps. They can go to their rooms to read, play on their tablets, watch a movie, play outside etc. so I can do what I want to do in peace. It’s usually reading or catching up on my DVR shows.
Chobani Simply 100 Greek Yogurt is a great companion to my me time. I always have a snack of some kind then and don’t want to be eating junk. Chobani Simply 100 contains only natural ingredients-sweetened with stevia, monk fruit evaporated cane juice and has just 100 calories. It’s also a great source of protein and fiber. I love the flavors: Raspberry Lemon, Tropical Citrus, Key Lime, Pineapple Coconut and Vanilla to name a few. It’s also a great on-the-go breakfast. I love adding a little granola and chia seeds to mine.

Set attainable goals
I have a planner to keep me organized and write down goals I have. Attainable goals. Yes, I could write down “visit every continent before I die”. Ok, that is awesome and a great goal, but it’s not attainable for me. Not right now anyway. You want a list of goals to help keep you balanced such as short-term goals that aren’t too high or too low to reach. Clean out the linen closet, spend an hour a week one-on-one time with each of my children, have a date night at least twice a month etc.

Pray/Attend Church/Meditate
This is a personal one. For me, I love going to church and I find strength in prayer and the scriptures. But I know this isn’t something everyone does. Maybe you meditate, maybe you like to sit in nature and think about life. Whatever it is you do to bring you peace, do it! It should be something quiet and reflective. Turn off the tv, put down the phone/tablet and do it.
These are just a few ways I find that help keep me balanced in life. There are a lot more things, and I’m sure you have your ways and I’d love to hear them! Please leave a comment so I can get more ideas.
