When I was little, I remember going out into our little garden and picking fresh cherry tomatoes and hunting for zucchini in the big plants. The cherry tomatoes were warm from the sun and I loved how they exploded as I bit into them. The zucchini was my favorite, though. My mom would slice it up and dip it into eggs and flour and then fry it in butter. I still cook it that way and it’s my favorite way to eat zucchini.
Everyone who gardens, does it for a reason. If you asked any gardener why they garden (besides for the fresh fruits and veggies), they would have a reason. Some people grow to spend time with their family or to beautify their community. Some people grow because it’s a skill passed down from generation to generation. Other people grow for relaxation, or because they love decorating their homes with freshly cut flowers. I grow a garden because I want to give my family delicious fresh food right out of my own backyard.
When we grow, we grow more than just plants. I grow work skills for my children. I grow family time. I grow love. I live in a rural community surrounded by amazing gardeners. I feel inspired by them to have my own delicious garden. Miracle-Gro makes gardens even more amazing. I love using it in my blueberries and this year I am excited to try it in my herbs.
