Have you ever used Apple Butter? I have to confess that I never have. I never thought of it. Do you really even know what it is? It’s a concentrated form of applesauce made by slowly cooking apples with water or cider to the point that it caramelizes, turning it a deep brown color. There really isn’t any butter in it, but it has a thick, soft consistency. You can spread it on breads to eat or you can bake and cook with it like I did.

Caramel Crumble Bars and Overnight Oats (in slow cooker). They all look fabulous and I would eventually make them all! Never have tried apple butter, either! Sounds good!!

I'll be using the Apple Butter Baked Beans recipe (less the beans) to make a sauce for the chicken I'm going to spatchcock to roast this weekend. I'll use 1/4 cup of minced onion vs the dried amount, added to a saucepan with the other ingredients, simmer until the thickness suits me, then run through the food processor.
