Serves: 16
Ingredients
  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 teaspoon baking soda
  • ½ teaspoon salt
  • 1 cup (2 sticks) unsalted butter, softened
  • 1 cup brown sugar, packed
  • ¼ cup granulated sugar
  • ½ cup malted milk powder
  • 2 teaspoons vanilla extract
  • 1 egg
  • 2 cups chocolate chips of choice
Directions
  1. Preheat your oven to 375 degrees F. Generously grease or line a standard 8"x8" baking pan and set aside.
  2. In a small bowl, whisk together the flour, baking soda and salt. Set aside.
  3. In the bowl of a stand mixer fitted with the paddle attachment or in a large bowl if using a handheld mixer, mix together the butter, sugars, malted milk powder and vanilla on medium speed until smooth and creamy. Add the egg and mix until well-combined.
  4. Turn the mixer down to low and slowly add in the small bowl with the dry ingredients. Mix until everything just comes together. Turn the mixer off and fold in the chocolate chips by hand. Save about a ½ cup.
  5. Transfer the dough to the prepared pan and smooth out the top with a spatula. Sprinkle the reserved chocolate chips on top.
  6. Bake in your preheated oven for 25 minutes or until the top starts to turn golden brown. Allow to cool completely before slicing and serving.
Notes
Bars should be stored in an airtight container at room temperature or in the refrigerator. They will keep for about a week.
