Cinnamon Granola {Slow Cooker Recipe}

July 31, 2014 by mandyrecipebox

This slow cooker Cinnamon Granola recipe is perfect with milk or on top of ice cream or yogurt. You can add nuts or dried fruit during the cooking process if you desire.

This Cinnamon Granola is actually named Fruit and Nut Granola but I didn’t use any fruit or nuts when making this so I had to change the name, obviously. It comes from Gooseberry Patch‘s Slow-Cooker Fall Favorites cookbook.
I know it’s still summer, but there’s 2 reasons I am posting this recipe:
1. It’s granola. You can eat it any time of the year.
2. It’s a Fall cookbook and you need time to use it all season.

I love all their cookbooks, but the slow cookers are a fave. Plus it’s fall recipes which means comfort food!

Look at the contents:
There are more than 200 recipes along with helpful tips and great ideas for Autumn time. Like this granola. Just the smell while it cooks is enough to make people want it. Every time someone came in the door they commented on the wonderful smell.  Hop over here for some sample recipes from the cookbook!

: Breakfast
Ingredients
  • 6 Tbsp. applesauce
  • ¼ cup maple syrup
  • 2 Tbsp. brown sugar
  • 1 tsp. cinnamon
  • ¼ tsp. salt
  • ¼ tsp. vanilla extract
  • ¼ tsp. almond extract
  • 3 cups oats, uncooked
  • 1 cup chopped pecans, optional
  • 1 cup chopped dates, optional
Directions
  1. Combine all but oats, pecans and dates in a slow cooker; mix well.
  2. Add oats, pecans and dates; stir well.
  3. Cover, leaving lid slightly ajar to let steam escape, and cook on high for 3 hours, stirring occasionally.
  4. Spoon granola onto baking sheet lined with parchment paper and let cool completely. Break into pieces if needed and store in an airtight container.
Notes
I will add more brown sugar next time. The sweetness faded as the granola cooked. That is just my opinion.

Disappointed the giveaway is over (I’m late to the party!) 🙂 Looks like it was a great giveaway/cookbook. I do like this granola, you’re right that homemade granola is good anytime of the year. Need to pin this!

What could substitute the apple sauce? Allergic 🙁

You could use brown sugar, honey or maple syrup in place of the applesauce. Hope this helps!
