This Cinnamon Granola is actually named Fruit and Nut Granola but I didn’t use any fruit or nuts when making this so I had to change the name, obviously. It comes from Gooseberry Patch‘s Slow-Cooker Fall Favorites cookbook.
I know it’s still summer, but there’s 2 reasons I am posting this recipe:
1. It’s granola. You can eat it any time of the year.
2. It’s a Fall cookbook and you need time to use it all season.
I love all their cookbooks, but the slow cookers are a fave. Plus it’s fall recipes which means comfort food!

Author: Mandy Bird
: Breakfast
Ingredients
- 6 Tbsp. applesauce
- ¼ cup maple syrup
- 2 Tbsp. brown sugar
- 1 tsp. cinnamon
- ¼ tsp. salt
- ¼ tsp. vanilla extract
- ¼ tsp. almond extract
- 3 cups oats, uncooked
- 1 cup chopped pecans, optional
- 1 cup chopped dates, optional
Directions
- Combine all but oats, pecans and dates in a slow cooker; mix well.
- Add oats, pecans and dates; stir well.
- Cover, leaving lid slightly ajar to let steam escape, and cook on high for 3 hours, stirring occasionally.
- Spoon granola onto baking sheet lined with parchment paper and let cool completely. Break into pieces if needed and store in an airtight container.
Notes
I will add more brown sugar next time. The sweetness faded as the granola cooked. That is just my opinion.

What could substitute the apple sauce? Allergic 🙁
mandyrecipebox says
You could use brown sugar, honey or maple syrup in place of the applesauce. Hope this helps!
